The length of time it takes to find a new job can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, such as your experience, the industry you are in, the location of the job, and the job market conditions.

If you are looking for a permanent role, on average, it takes about one to three months to find a new job, although this can be shorter or longer depending on your specific situation. Some people may find a job within a few weeks, while others may take several months or longer.

There are steps you can take to expedite your job search and increase your chances of finding a new job more quickly. These include:

  1. Tailoring your resume and cover letter to each job application
  2. Being proactive and applying to as many relevant job openings as possible

It is also important to be patient and persistent in your job search. Finding a new job can be a challenging process, but with determination and a proactive approach, you will eventually find the right opportunity for you.

  • By presenting yourself honestly. Tell the recruiter your exact skill set, what you’re looking for and what makes you feel fulfilled in a role.
  • Be proactive in responding to any communication.
  • Be reliable by showing up to any interviews the consultant has organised for you, failure to do so may have consequences on you finding a role through MAYDAY.

There are a few key differences to consider when deciding whether to use a recruitment agency or apply directly to companies yourself:

  1. Time: Applying to jobs directly can be time-consuming, as you will need to search for opportunities, tailor your resume and cover letter for each application, and possibly attend multiple rounds of interviews. Working with a recruitment agency can save you time, as they can do much of the legwork for you and match you with relevant job opportunities.
  2. Expertise: Recruitment agencies have expertise in matching candidates with job opportunities and can offer career advice and coaching. If you are unsure of what types of roles or industries may be a good fit for you, working with a recruitment agency can be a helpful resource.
  3. Access to job opportunities: Recruitment agencies often have access to job opportunities that are not advertised publicly. They may also have relationships with companies that can lead to exclusive job openings.

Ultimately, whether you choose to work with a recruitment agency or apply directly to companies will depend on your individual circumstances and job search goals. It can be helpful to consider your time constraints, job search expertise, and the types of opportunities you are seeking.

  1. Determine the job requirements and the skills and qualities that are necessary for success in the role. Use this information to develop a list of interview questions that will help you assess candidates' fit for the job.

  2. Make sure to give candidates an opportunity to ask questions about the role and the company. This can help you gauge their interest and enthusiasm for the position.
  3. Consider having multiple people participate in the interview process, including representatives from different departments and levels of the organisation. This can provide a diverse perspective on the candidate's fit for the role.

  4. Be consistent in your evaluation process. Use the same criteria to evaluate all candidates and make sure to take thorough notes during the interview process to help with decision-making.

  5. Finally, be respectful of candidates' time and make sure to communicate clearly about the next steps in the process.

MAYDAY is an Australian company and can only assist with finding roles within Australia for candidates with valid working rights in the country.

Any roles MAYDAY Blue offer are for Austalian-based positions, therefore cannot help you with any remote work from another country.

MAYDAY Blue have had some serious issues with scammers recently, and ask any candidates who are unsure if they have received an email or text from someone claiming they work for MAYDAY, they contact us first. Any MAYDAY consultant emailing you would only email you from the MAYDAY email, not Gmail.

On rare occasions, an employer may offer sponsorship to a candidate who is already working for them. However, we do not work with clients who offer sponsorship to candidates who are not currently in Australia or do not have the necessary working rights to be in the country

Please refer to the Australian Immigration department website for any information about visas and requirements.
